Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators beat the visiting Utica Comets 3-2 Saturday night in their first shootout victory of the season. Cole Schneider notched his 28th goal of the season in the second period and was the lone skater to score in the shootout to lead Binghamton to the win.

Following a scoreless first period, the Comets grabbed a 1-0 lead just 50 seconds into the middle frame when Hunter Shinkaruk pushed his 14th goal of the year under a sprawling Chris Driedger. Binghamton drew the score even with Schneider's tally 6:44 into the period. Brandon DeFazio broke the tie just shy of the 12 minute mark with his 19th strike of the season, but Buddy Robinson responded less than three minutes later to once again tie the score at 2-2.

Driedger managed to stop a flurry of shots by the Comets throughout the third period to keep the game tied and force overtime.

A back-and-forth sudden-death period did not solve the stalemate, so the teams took to the shootout where Driedger stopped all three Comet shooters to remain unbeaten in six starts with Binghamton this season.

Binghamton welcomes back Utica on Wednesday, April 15, for the final game of a six-game season series. Tickets are available by calling the Binghamton Senators Executive Office at (607) 722-7367 Monday-Friday from 9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m. Fans can also purchase tickets through the Floyd L.
