Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Memorial Day Weekend at Isotopes Park promises to be extra special, as Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Matt Kemp and outfielder Juan Rivera are both scheduled to appear with the Albuquerque Isotopes this Sunday, May 27 and Monday, May 28 as part of Major League Rehabilitation Assignments.
Kemp last year put together one of the greatest single seasons in Dodger franchise history, finishing second in National League Most Valuable Player voting while making a run at the Triple Crown with a .324 batting average (3rd in the NL), 39 home runs (1st), and 126 RBI (1st). The outfielder also made his first All-Star team and finished just one home run shy of becoming the fifth player in Major League history to post a 40-homer / 40-steal season. This year, Kemp was off to another sensational season, ranking second in the NL with a .359 batting average and tied for second with 12 home runs until he was placed on the Disabled List on May 14 with a strained left hamstring, breaking a streak of 399 consecutive games played.
Now in his first full season with the Dodgers, Rivera joined the team last year in a July 12 trade with the Toronto Blue Jays and batted .274 with five homers and 46 RBI in 62 games in LA. This year, the outfielder was batting .247 with two home runs and 13 RBI in 25 games before going on the Disabled List with a strained left hamstring on May 9.
The Isotopes huge 12-game homestand wraps up with a Memorial Day Military Appreciation Weekend presented by Wells Fargo that includes a camo jersey auction and back-to-back fireworks shows. The fun kicks off tomorrow night with a tin lunch box giveaway courtesy of U.S. Bank. Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
