Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Roger Kieschnick went 4-for-5 with a grand slam and 6 RBI as the Fresno Grizzlies (31-15) topped the Albuquerque Isotopes (27-20) 10-7 on Wednesday night at Isotopes Park. The 'Topes can still capture a series win with a victory over Fresno tomorrow in the final game of the four-game set.

With Fresno up 1-0 in the second, the 'Topes tied the game after Luis Cruz roped a double to center and scored on a base hit by Josh Bard. In his next at-bat in the fourth, Cruz crushed another double, this time plating Josh Fields and putting the Isotopes ahead 2-1. Cruz' last six hits are all doubles, and he has six two-baggers in his last three games. Jeff Baisley, who had reached on a single and advanced to third on Cruz' knock, scored on a wild pitch, extending Albuquerque's lead to 3-1.

'Topes starter Mike Parisi helped the Isotopes' cause on the mound, holding the Grizzlies bats to just one run on four hits in 4.0 innings of work in his first appearance since coming off the Disabled List.

'Topes reliever Fernando Nieve (1-2) took over for Parisi in the fifth and immediately yielded a home run to Jackson Williams, cutting the home team's lead to 3-2. Fresno then loaded the bases as for Kieshcnick, who crushed a grand slam that capped off the five run inning and gave Fresno a 6-3 lead.

From there, the Grizzlies never looked back, adding two runs in the sixth and two in the eighth to extend their lead 10-6.

Albuquerque attempted to battle back in the eighth with a triple from Brian Cavazos-Galvez, who scored on a grounder to second base, making the score 10-6 Fresno. The 'Topes continued their comeback in the ninth, when Trent Oeltjen walked and scored on a triple from Aaron Miles. Josh Fields then drew a walk to bring the tying run to the plate with no outs, but back-to-back strikeouts and a flyout to center ended the Isotopes rally, giving the Grizzlies a 10-7 win.

Isotopes undefeated right-hander Will Savage (7-0, 3.40) will make the start in the final game of the four-game set against Grizzlie's righty Eric Hacker (7-1, 3.35). First pitch is slated for 6:35 PM.

The Isotopes 12-game homestand rolls on with an insulated cooler bag giveaway tomorrow courtesy Gonstead Family Chiropractic, followed by a tin lunch box giveaway on Friday and a special Military Appreciation Weekend with back-to-back fireworks shows. Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.abqisotopes.com or www.ticketmaster.com .
