Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres scored seven times in the third inning Wednesday and beat the Memphis Redbirds, 9-3. It was the most runs the Padres have scored in an inning this season, and extended their season high winning streak to three games. The victory also sealed the first series win of the season for the T-Pads.

Kip Wells pitched six innings and allowed two runs in his second Tucson start. He faced the minimum through three innings and didn't allow a hit until the fourth. Wells was relieved by Anthony Reyes, who struck out six Redbirds in three innings of work to close the game. Logan Forsythe had the biggest hit of the game for Tucson, clearing the bases with a triple over the right fielder's head in the third inning with the bases loaded. Anthony Contreras went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Daniel Robertson was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Tucson outfielder Cody Decker was hit by a pitch in the second inning. He remained on the bases and scored a run, but did not take the field in the third and was replaced by Contreras in left field. The Padres have outscored Memphis (Cardinals affiliate) 27-8 in the series.

Next Game: Thursday at 7:05 - Memphis LHP John Gast (0-4, 4.50) vs. Tucson RHP Jorge Reyes (3-5, 4.61). Budweiser Thirsty Thursday. Game coverage begins at 6:50 on Tejano 1600 AM.
