Yard Goats Come from Behind to Beat Fisher Cats 6-4

Manchester, NH- The Hartford Yard Goats (42-33) came from behind to beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (32-44) by the score of 6-4 on Tuesday evening at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire in the second of a three games series. Trailing 4-1 in the sixth inning, the Yard Goats rallied for six runs in the last five at-bats of the game. After scoring single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, Hartford scored a pair of runs to take the lead in the eighth inning. With two out, Ryan McMahon hit a ground ball to first base and Matt Dean flipped it to the pitcher covering, however, Tim Mayza missed the bag, allowing David Dahl and Pat Valaika to score and give the Yard Goats a 5-4 lead. RHP German Marquez pitched well in seven innings to earn his 6th win.

The Fisher Cats scored the first two runs of the game in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead off Hartford starter German Marquez. The first four batters reached on three hits and a walk with the first run scoring on an RBI single by Rowdy Tellez and the second one coming in on Ryan Lavarnway's double play grounder.

The Yard Goats got on the board with a run in the fifth inning off New Hampshire starter Shane Dawson. Zach Osborne's double play grounder scored Ryan McMahon from third base to make it a 3-1 game.

The Fisher Cats added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-out solo home run by Roemon Fields to make it a 4-1 game.

However, the Yard Goats would chip away over the next three frames. Hartford scored a run on Dillon Thomas' RBI single in the sixth inning, bringing home Raimel Tapia to make it 4-2. The Rockies' affiliate made it 4-3 on Jackson Williams' RBI single in the seventh inning, scoring Ryan McMahon.

In the eighth inning the Yard Goats would score twice and take their first lead. David Dahl began the inning with a double and Pat Valiaka walked. Dillon Thomas bunted runners to second and third. After Rosell Herrera was retired for the second out, Ryan McMahon hit a ground ball to first base and Matt Dean flipped it to the pitcher covering, however, Tim Mayza missed the bag, allowing Dahl and Valaika to score and give the Yard Goats a 5-4 lead. Hartford added a run in the ninth inning as Zach Osborne scored on a fielding error, making it a 6-4 game.

The Yard Goats go for the sweep against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Wednesday night in Manchester, NH (7:05 PM). LHP Carlos Hernandez will start for Hartford while RHP Luis Santos will start for the Fisher Cats. The game will be broadcast live on News Radio 1410 WPOP.
