WNBF 1290 AM
LAST TIME OUT: Amed Rosario blasted a two-run triple in the top of the eighth to give the B-Mets the lead in a 3-2 win over the Altoona Curve, Monday night from Peoples Natural Gas Field. Rainy Lara allowed one run on three hits over 4.2 innings but exited the game early due to injury. Beck Wheeler worked around two walks in the ninth to convert his sixth save in as many tries.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Josh Zeid makes his fourth start with the B-Mets and his second against Altoona. Zeid faced the Curve on Thursday in Binghamton and surrendered five runs, four earned, on six hits with four walks over five innings. He took the loss as the B-Mets fell, 9-6 in the series finale. Zeid has ten walks and 12 strikeouts in 17.2 innings with Binghamton.
ALTOONA STARTER: LHP Clay Dickson gets the start for the Curve, his third against the B-Mets. Dickson opposed Zeid in the previous series finale on Thursday and picked up a win while allowing four runs on seven hits over six innings. Dickson is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in two starts against Binghamton. Four earned runs were the most that Dickson had allowed since 5/2, a span of ten appearances.
TAKE THREE, THEY'RE SMALL: Amed Rosario's triple in the eighth inning on Monday was Binghamton's ninth of the season. The B-Mets have triples in each of their last two games after going without a triple for the previous 18.
BIG LEAGUERS: A pair of big names join the B-Mets today as Juan Lagares will begin a Major League rehab assignment and Jose Reyes was transferred from Brooklyn (SS-A). Lagares has been on New York's disabled list since 6/16 with a partially torn ligament in his left thumb. Reyes was signed to a minor league contract by the Mets on Saturday and played two games at third base with the Cyclones. He first appeared with the B-Mets in 2002 and Lagares was a B-Met 2011-12.
STREAKING: Binghamton's four-game winning streak is its second longest of the season. The B-Mets are batting just during the streak .243 and pitchers have a 3.00 ERA.
HOT START: Amed Rosario has recorded hits in all five of his games since joining the B-Mets from St. Lucie (High-A). Rosario has started four games at shortstop and the B-Mets have gone 4-0. He is batting .412 (7-17) with two doubles, four RBI, a triple, two runs and a stolen base.
FLAIR FOR THE DRAMATIC: The B-Mets have used late runs to take the lead in two of the four games on the current winning streak. A three-run seventh gave Binghamton the lead on Saturday and a two-run eighth was the deciding factor on Monday. It was the second time the B-Mets have won a game they trailed after seven, improving to 2-33.
THEY LIKE IT HERE: Dating back to 2015, the B-Mets have won six of their past eight games at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The finale of the three-game series is set for 7:00 PM on Thursday.
