Eshelman earns first AA win in rain-filled game

Tom Eshelman (1-0) earned his first AA win on Tuesday night as the Fightin Phils (55-23) beat the Erie SeaWolves (34-45) 7-2. The Fightins have now won 19 series this season and have a team total 97 home runs, four behind last year's final total.

Jorge Alfaro led off the bottom of the fourth with a home run against SeaWolves starter Myles Jaye (3-6) to give the Fightin Phils a 1-0 lead. The home run for Alfaro was his ninth of the season. Dylan Cozens hit a double in the next at-bat then moved to third on a single from Rhys Hoskins. Jake Fox hit a three-run home run off Jaye to extend Reading's lead to 4-0.

The game would be delayed for one hour and forty-six minutes to due train. Eshelman would not return after pitching five shutout innings. He gave up five hits and struck out two batters. Mario Hollands would enter the game in the top of the sixth inning. He pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

Reading took a 7-0 lead off SeaWolves reliever Lendy Castillo in the bottom of the sixth. Osmel Aguila hit a RBI single with the bases loaded then Angelo Mora followed with a RBI single.
