Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve overcame a six-run deficit to tie the ballgame in the bottom of the ninth inning before Jose Osuna knocked a walk-off double to defeat the Binghamton Mets, 8-7, on Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Osuna plated Harold Ramirez, who tied the game by reaching on a fielder's choice that allowed Chris Diaz to score and tie the game at 7-7 against B-Mets reliever Beck Wheeler (Loss, 0-2).

Altoona (43-33) walks off for the third time this season, ending Binghamton's (32-43) four-game winning streak.

The Curve trailed 7-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth before scoring five runs in the frame. Kevin Newman and Erich Weiss both reached to begin the inning against Binghamton starter Josh Zeid, setting the table for a two-run triple from Ramirez, bringing the Curve within 7-3.

Ramirez scored on an Osuna RBI groundout to make it 7-4, and following a two-out single from Anderson Feliz, Barrett Barnes doubled him home to bring the Curve within 7-5. Justin Maffei brought Altoona within a run with an RBI single as part of his 3-for-3 day.

Brett McKinney and Jared Lakind (Win, 3-0) combined for three perfect relief innings in the seventh, eighth and ninth.

Binghamton scored the first two runs of the game in the second inning, the first on a solo home run from Dominic Smith, and another on a Zeid RBI single to give the B-Mets an early 2-0 advantage.

Altoona responded in the bottom half with Feliz's second home run of the year over the right-field wall to make it a 2-1 game, but Binghamton scored three more runs in the third inning against Curve starter Cody Dickson to extend their lead to 5-1.

Against Curve reliever Edgar Santana, the B-Mets got a pair of runs on an Amed Rosario single to make it 7-1.

Curve pitching held the B-Mets to 3-for-8 with runners in scoring position, as the final 10 Binghamton batters of the game were retired.
