Chesapeake Baysox News Release
Garabez Rosa set a Baysox franchise record with his 423rd hit in an offensive frenzy in Harrisburg that saw the Baysox fall 13-10 to Harrisburg Tuesday night.
Rosa, needed one hit to tie current Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph, and he did so with an infield single in the fifth inning. Rosa would grab the record with a line drive single amidst a two-run rally in the seventh inning. The FNB Field crowd gave a nice ovation and the baseball was tossed out of play for Rosa and his achievement.
Adrian Marin had a big night for the Baysox. Down 4-1 in the third inning, Marin hit a two-run home run to left field on the ninth pitch of the at-bat. Marin hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning and then drove home two more with a two-RBI single in the ninth inning.
The Baysox had five players register a multi-hit game in the contest but saw themselves battling back throughout. Harrisburg scored twice in each of the first two innings. The Senators then loaded the bases with two down in the fourth inning and Wilmer Difo hit a 3-2 pitch into the Senators bullpen beyond the right field wall for a grand slam. Difo was dynamic on the evening driving home seven runs with a four-hit performance.
The rubber match of the series will be Wednesday afternoon, June 29th with a noon first pitch. Jayson Aquino gets the start for the Baysox. Coverage begins 20-minutes prior on 1430-AM WNAV and 99.9 FM in Annapolis.
Bowie returns home for Independence Day Monday, July 4th at 6:35 p.m. Tickets are selling fast! A huge Fireworks extravaganza follows the game! Purchase over the phone at 301-805-6000 or online at baysox.com.
