Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. - After playing close for much of the game, the Omaha Storm Chasers fell down late and could not come back against the Gwinnett Stripers in a 3-1 loss Tuesday.

Starting pitcher Ryan Yarbrough delivered his best rehab outing yet, as the southpaw held Gwinnett to just three hits over 6.0 innings of work, with just one walk and six strikeouts.

In that time, the Chasers could only muster one run of support, on an RBI single in the fourth from Brewer Hicklen.

As soon as Yarbrough exited the game, the Stripers flipped the momentum in their favor. Reliver Jackson Kowar walked three and hit two batters, including four straight free passes with two outs to plate two runs and put Gwinnett ahead the rest of the night.

While Jonah Dipoto worked out of the bases-loaded jam in the seventh, he allowed a solo homer in the eighth that was an important run of insurance for the Stripers.

After Hicklen's single in the fourth, he was caught stealing second and Clay Dungan doubled, the last hit Omaha got the rest of the night, held to just three. With the double and a walk, Dungan was the only Chaser that reached base twice in the game.

The four combined runs between the two team were the second fewest in a Storm Chasers game this season, while seven combined hits were the fewest for an Omaha contest in 2023.

The Storm Chasers will try and bounce back Wednesday at 6:05 p.m. CT and right-hander Brad Keller headed to the mound.
