Wranglers thwart Condors 2-1
April 3, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
Las Vegas - Matt Dzieduszyski scored both Las Vegas Wranglers goals as they defeated the Bakersfield Condors 2-1 at the Orleans Arena on Saturday night. The Condors remain alone in the fourth and final playoff spot in the West, however, with Fresno's loss at home against Alaska. Both Long Beach and Idaho won their respective games tonight as well, meaning the Condors trail third place Idaho by three points and second place Long Beach by four.
Sylvain Deschatelets notched his first goal as a Condor and Matt Dzieduszycki exchanged first period goals as the teams skated to a 1-1 tie after 20 minutes. But the story of the period was not Dzieduszycki's goal, it was when he crashed full- speed into Condors rookie G Yutaka Fukufuji in the first couple minutes of the game, knocking him from the contest with an apparent leg injury. Seven Condors injuries for a total of 57 man-games lost have occurred against Las Vegas this season.
The second period saw no goals but plenty of chances for both teams. Vegas led in shots in the period 20-10, but Parley and Marc Magliarditi, the Wranglers starter between the pipes, stood tall. Dzieduszyski netted his second of the game on the power play midway through the third period and the defense did the rest for Vegas. The Condors managed just six third period shots on goal and only one after falling behind.
The Condors return home to host Idaho on the final weekend of the season next Friday and Saturday night. In Friday's game, the Condors welcome Dora the Explorer to town to entertain the kids, courtesy of Bright House Networks and KLLY 95.3. On Saturday night, one fan will win a home makeover patio giveaway from Sunshine Sunroom and Patio, sponsored by KKET-TV 11 and KUZZ 107.9.
Individual tickets can be purchased at the Rabobank Arena box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season and group tickets may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.
