
Gladiators Bite Pride, 3-2

Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Mike Vigilante posted two goals and chipped in an assist to lead the Gladiators past the Pee Dee Pride 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Florence Civic Center.
Vigilante posted his 29th goal of the season flipping the puck off of the back of Pee Dee netminder Nick Boucher 8 minutes into the first period to give the Gladiators a 1-0 lead. Randy Dagenais moved the puck into the corner to Vigilante to pick up an assist on the goal.
Gwinnett took a 2-0 lead on Vigilante's second of the game 3:09 later in the first period. Jim Jackson fed Vigilante in the neutral zone for an assist on the tally. Vigilante muscled down the left wing wall and put the puck off the post and past Boucher for the goal at 14:09 of the period.
Kevin Doell pushed the Gladiators lead to 3-0 with his 5th goal of the season beating Boucher over the glove for the tally. Mike Vigilante recorded an assist on the goal at 12:49 of the second period feeding Doell in the slot. Brad Schell also picked up an assist as he knocked down a Pride breakout pass and fed a wide open Vigilante on the opposite wing to set up the play.
Pee Dee cut into the Gladiators lead with 4:08 remaining in the second period Gregg Johnson ripped a rebound past Gladiators netminder Sean Fields. Steve Hildenbrand dug the puck off the side of the net to keep the play going before sliding the puck along to Johnson. Steve Cygan also picked up an assist on the goal.
Allan Sirois cut the Gladiators to just a goal with a shorthanded tally at 3:08 of the third period. Adam Elzinga pushed the puck into the neutral zone to spring Sirois on a breakaway.
Gwinnett clamped down defensively for the remainder of the 3rd period as the Gladiators outshot the Pride 36-20 while Sean Fields made 18 saves to help the Gladiators improve to 37-24-8 on the season.
