Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx fell behind 2-0 before staging a comeback on the road, tying the game in regulation and winning 3-2 in a shootout over the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday night.

Ed Courtenay's power play goal opened the scoring at 6:50 of the first period. Jeremy Stevenson fed Courtenay a cross-ice pass for the goal, while Brad Parsons also added an assist for a 1-0 Stingrays lead after 20 minutes of play.

Matt Reid gave his team a two goal lead at 2:06 of the second period before the Lynx jumped back in with a power play goal by Doug Wright as he tipped in a Brian Escobedo pass at 18:57 to make it a 2-1 game.

Joe Markusen would tie the game in the third period when he took a Jamie Johnson feed to beat Gregg Naumenko over the left pad to tie the game at 2-2. Sean Connolly also grabbed a helper on the tying marker at 13:37.

No scoring in overtime led to Louis Goulet's sole goal in the shootout to provide the Lynx with a 3-2 win over the Stingrays in five rounds. Jason Saal finished with 26 saves through the overtime and went 5-for-5 in the shootout to seal the win.

The Lynx are back in action Sunday afternoon against the Mississippi Sea Wolves starting at 4:05 pm, with pre-game show kicking off one half-hour before game time on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
