Wranglers Sneak by RoadRunners 5-3

Phoenix, AZ - The Las Vegas Wranglers (30-9-7, 67 points) defeated the Phoenix RoadRunners (16-25-6, 38 points) 5-3 at the U.S. Airways Center on Tuesday night. Center Tyler Mosienko scored the game-winning goal at 9:46 of the third period as Las Vegas took its' sixth win in the last seven games. Left wing Shawn Limpright became the team's all-time leading scorer with his 120th point with Las Vegas. Limpright also scored twice in the victory for a three-point night. Goalie Daniel Manzato stopped all 20 shots he faced in the third period, securing his 16th win of the season. Manzato finished with 30 saves on the evening. Defenseman Aaron Power and forward Marco Peluso each scored in the win for Las Vegas. Phoenix defenseman Reagan Rome scored twice in the loss. Las Vegas will play in Phoenix again on Thursday night at 6:11 (PST) pm.

In the first period, Phoenix claimed the lead with the opening tally of the night on the power play at 12:36. Forward Ryan Walsh carried the puck from behind the Las Vegas net, centering in front for Reagan Rome. The Phoenix defenseman scored his sixth of the season with a one-timer that beat Las Vegas goalie Daniel Manzato. Las Vegas countered with a power-play goal late in the period. Left wing Marco Peluso scored his first goal of the season with only 2:16 remaining in the period. Defensemen Brad Cole and Jason Krischuk worked the puck to Peluso on the right-wing boards, the fourth-year Wrangler rocketed a one-timer past Phoenix goalie Dave McKee to tie the game 1-1.

In the second period, the two teams traded a pair of goals. Phoenix scored the first two goals of the period, with Las Vegas charging back to tie the game 3-3 before the end of the period. RoadRunners captain Reagan Rome scored his eighth goal of the season and second of the game at 6:22 for the 2-1 Phoenix lead. At 10:28, defenseman Bryan Nathe scored his first goal of the season, expanding the Phoenix lead to 3-1. The Wranglers took advantage of a few power plays to get back into the scoring column. Forwards Shawn Limpright and Brandon Kaleniecki set up the Wranglers second goal of the night at 12:42. Defenseman Aaron Power scored his ninth goal of the season on a feed from Limpright. The fourth-year Wrangler (Limpright) picked up his 120th point with Las Vegas, becoming the team's all-time point leader. The left wing scored his eighth goal of the season at 15:20, tying the game 3-3. Adam Cracknell and Power assisted on Limpright's power-play goal.

In the third period, center Tyler Mosienko broke the 3-3 tie with his 16th goal of the season at 9:46. Mosienko worked the puck into and split the Phoenix defense, creating a 1-on-1 scoring chance. The Wranglers center then flipped the puck between the pads of McKee for the 4-3 Las Vegas lead. Limpright added his second goal of the night with an empty-net tally with 35-seconds remaining for the 5-3 final.

The Wranglers remain on the road with another game in Phoenix on Thursday at 6:11 pm (PST) at U.S. Airways Center. The team will make stops in Bakersfield and Stockton next week before returning home. Las Vegas will return to the Orleans Arena on Friday, February 15th to host Victoria at 7:05 pm.
