Falcons Luke Curtin Named In Glas Co Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Fresno left wing Luke Curtin is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 28-Feb. 3.

The 6-foot-2 and 205-pound Curtin had five goals, two assists and seven points with a plus-minus rating of +4 as the Falcons went 2-0-1 and moved closer to the Las Vegas Wranglers in the Pacific Division.

Curtin scored a goal in a 4-2 win against Phoenix on Jan. 29 and had a power-play goal in a 4-3 shootout loss at Las Vegas on Feb 1 before ending the week with five points on three goals, including the game winner, and two assists in a 6-2 win against Las Vegas. The five points ties the Falcons team record which Curtin shares with five other players, and Curtin's career high set Mar. 23, 2002 with four goals and an assist against Reading and tied on Oct. 28, 2005 at Long Beach with four goals and an assist and Feb. 27, 2007 against Cincinnati with three goals and two assists.

The St. Paul, Minn. native is on a five-game point streak (6g-7a) and a three-game goal streak (5g). The five-time ECHL All-Star ranks third on the Falcons with 24 assists and 33 points in 32 games this season.

Drafted in the fifth round (134th overall) by the Colorado Avalanche in the 1996 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Curtin has 556 points (190g-366a) and 437 penalty minutes in 473 regular season games and 71 points (16g-55a) and 60 penalty minutes in 60 Kelly Cup Playoff games in nine seasons in the ECHL with Baton Rouge, Atlantic City and Fresno. He is seventh all-time in career assists, one behind Derek Clancey and four behind Dave Seitz, and is 13th in career points, 11 behind Darren Colbourne.

On behalf of Luke Curtin, a case of pucks will be donated to a Fresno area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 18,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
