Wranglers Enter Western Canada Matchup
Published on December 2, 2025 under American Hockey League (AHL)
Calgary Wranglers News Release
The Wranglers are in Abbotsford for a back-to-back against the Canucks on Dec. 2 and 3.
The Matchup
This doubleheader falls in the middle of Calgary's 10-game road trip.
The team briefly returned home for four days following their Nov. 26 game in San Jose, squeezing in a few practices before heading back west.
"Four of our six games I liked, I thought we played direct, I thought we played hard, and played for each other," said Head Coach Brett Sutter after practice on Nov. 29.
"The other two games, not so much. One of those being the 13th day of the trip (3-0 loss in San Jose), and I think our energy was not where we needed it to be."

Puck drop is at 8 p.m. tonight, and the Wranglers will be looking to make an immediate impression against their Western Canadian rivals.
Sutter emphasized what the team is focused on heading into the matchup:
"They are competitive," he said. "They play really hard and that was the mindset in practice today; our compete level, our one-on-one battles, our hunger for pucks, being on the right side of the puck."
Rory Kerins spoke with the media ahead of the Wranglers four-game road series.
Rory Kerins was a standout during the road swing, recording back-to-back multi-point games and the overtime winner against Coachella Valley on Nov. 23.
"I'm trying to continue the work that I put in. There was a good stretch of games there for us," Kerins said.
Looking ahead, he echoed his coach's mindset: "I think we just need to play simple. The last game we were maybe a little fatigued ... we had a reset at home and we'll be ready to go for the next stretch."
Kerins enters the matchup with 19 points in 17 games (7G, 12A).
Calgary currently sits fourth in the Pacific Division with 22 points.
The Other Side
The defending 2025 Calder Cup champions are off to a slower start this season.
Abbotsford sits last in the Pacific Division with 11 points and a 4-13-1-2 record.
The Wranglers swept their previous meetings, earning a 2-1 shootout win on Oct. 29 and a 3-0 shutout on Oct. 28.
The Canucks enter this doubleheader coming off a 5-2 win over the Tucson Roadrunners on Nov. 29, after splitting the series with a 4-1 loss the night before.
With Jonathan Lekkerimäki recalled to Vancouver, Ben Berard becomes the player to watch for Abbotsford.
Berard leads the team with 12 points in 19 games (5G, 7A).
