Bakersfield Condors News Release
LAS VEGAS - The Bakersfield Condors fell to the Las Vegas Wranglers, 4-2, before 3,929 fans at Orleans Arena Friday night. LW Mark Derlago, playing in just his fourth game, scored his fifth goal of the season.
Las Vegas (3-4-1, 7pts) opened the scoring with a first-period goal by C Chris Neiszner at 7:18 after he intercepted a pass deep in the Bakersfield zone. The Wranglers held a narrow 8-6 advantage in shots on goal through one, and entered the intermission with a 1-0 lead.
The Condors (2-5-1, 5pts) needed only 53 seconds in the second period to tie the game, as Derlago chopped in a rebound that charomed off the glass behind the net all the way into the slot. However, just 2:05 later, C Chris Ferraro found the back of the net to put Vegas back in the lead. The Condors again tied the game, this time on the power play, when D Tyler Scott wristed in a shot from the point at 5:22. Ferraro answered again with his second goal of the period at 15:42, putting Las Vegas ahead, 3-2, going into the third.
The Wranglers capitalized on a turnover and added to their lead 6:10 into the third with a F Justin Taylor tally to account for the 4-2 final score. Condors G Dave McKee stopped 23 of 27 shots in the loss.
