Steelheads Lose A Heartbreaker, 2-1

November 8, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID- It was much of the same tonight at Qwest Arena, as the Steelheads and Aces carried a 1-1 game into the third period in the final game of a three-game set. But this game, unlike Thursday night's affair, did not require a shootout, or even overtime. Alaska's Colin Hemingway beat Matt Climie for the game-winning goal with 1:10 to go in the third period; his sixth of the season, making it 2-1 in favor of the Aces. The assists went to Cam Keith and Alexandre Imbeault.

Like Thursday night, Idaho (4-4-2) opened the scoring when Blaine Jarvis beat Aces goalie Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux from a very sharp angle; the goal was the second of the season for Jarvis, with the assists going to Bryan McGregor and Kris Sparre at 1:50 of the second period. The equalizer was netted for Alaska (7-2-1) later in the second period, when Bryan Miller scored his first of the year, with assists going to Keith and Matt Shasby at 17:25.

The two second period goals represented all the scoring the 4,800 in attendance would see until Hemingway's game-winner. The contest was a goalie's duel between Lamoureux and Climie. Climie stopped 27 of 29 Alaska shots, as his record fell to 3-2 with the loss. Lamoureux steered aside 34 of 35 shots and improved to 7-2-1, as he has started all of Alaska's games on the season.

The Steelheads finished the series against Alaska with a shootout win and two regulation losses. Idaho gets back to the ice Tuesday night against Fresno.
