Ontario Reign News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings and the AHL Manchester Monarchs lost to the Utah Grizzlies, 3-2, in a shootout Friday evening in front of 4,730 at the E-Center. The Reign picked up one point in the loss; center Tim Kraus and right wing Geoff Walker each scored in the match and netminder John Murray, making his second appearance between the pipes for the Reign, stopped 40 of 42 shots he faced in the loss.

Friday evening's match-up in Utah brought the Reign (4-4-1, 9 points) to the E-Center for the Grizzlies "Pink in the Rink" breast cancer awareness night and the second match-up of three in four days between the two teams. The Reign came out strong, lighting the lamp twice in the first period. Tim Kraus put the Reign on the board midway through the first as he found the net off assists from right wing Geoff Walker and defenseman Dan Knapp. Kraus' goal was his second goal, and second power play goal, in two games. The Reign went up by two when Geoff Walker shot the puck past Grizzlies goalie Mike Mole, at 16:22 in the first, for Walker's fourth goal on the season. Reign center Dusty Collins and defenseman Andrew Martens registered the assists.

The Reign blanked the Grizzlies (6-2-0, 12 points) for nearly 57 minutes in the match, holding them to zero, but the Grizzlies made a late third period come back and found the net on back-to-back power play goals by left wing Dennis Packard to send the match into overtime with a score of 2-2.

Both teams were unable to find the net in the five-minute overtime period, sending the match into a five-round shootout; the Reign's first of the year. Grizzlies forward James Sixsmith was the only shooter to find the back of the net in the shootout, ending the match with a final score, Reign 2, Grizzlies 3.

Notes: Tim Kraus extend his 2-game goal streak (2g) with a goal on the night (11/5-11/7), Geoff Walker extends his point streak to two games (1g, 2a= 3 points) (11/5-117), and Dan Knapp posted a 2-game assist streak (3 assists) (11/5-11/7), with their performances on the night.
