November 8, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Dayton Bombers News Release

Trenton, NJ - Nino Musitelli had three goals and an assist to lead the Dayton Bombers to a 5-1 victory over the Trenton Devils on Saturday night.

The Bombers picked up where they left off from last night's 4-3 win by taking the early 1-0 lead as Musitelli scored on a backhander past Devils goalie Jason Smith from Justin Bowers and Nathan Schwartzbauer. Under a minute later defenseman Greg Labenski netted his second of the season from Musitelli and Mike McLean to increase the lead to 2-0 at the end of the first period. The Bombers outshot the Devils in the frame 18-12.

Picking up the pace in the second, Jarret Lukin scored from Dan Riedel and Joe Van Culin before Musitelli landed his second of the night. Bowers picked up his second assist of the game, increasing his point streak to four games. Bombers starting netminder David Shantz had stopped all 17 Trenton shots he faced after two periods.

Carrying a 4-0 lead into the third Musitelli recorded his first professional hat trick less than a minute into the period with an assist from Bowers. The Dayton shutout seemed all but imminent but Devils' leading scorer Eric Castonguay tallied Trenton's lone goal at the 11 minute mark of the period.

Shantz finished the game with 25 saves on 26 shots, while Smith was 34 of 39 for Trenton. The Bombers were a perfect 3 of 3 on the penalty kill.

Tomorrow the Bombers will face the Reading Royals at 5:00 p.m. on the road.

Action returns to the Miami Valley on Saturday, November 15 as the Johnstown Chiefs visit Troy, Ohio's historic Hobart Arena at 7:30 p.m. The Chiefs then visit the Nutter Center on Sunday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m. Ticket information is available at www.daytonbombers.com.
