
Cyclones Take Win In Front of Sixth Largest Crowd

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati Cyclones rookie goaltender Kyle Gajewski stopped 24 shots and Olivier Latendresse netted the game winning goal in a 3-1 win over Elmira on Saturday night. The victory was the 200th by a Cyclones team playing at U.S. Bank Arena in regular season play since moving to U.S. Bank Arena prior to the start of the 1997-98 season.
A crowd of 6596, the sixth-largest in team regular season history witnessed the contest. Cincinnati is riding a six-game unbeaten in regulation time stretch, going 4-0-2 during that time. The Cyclones are above .500 for the first time this season at 4-3-1, after beginning the campaign at 0-3-1.
For the ninth time in ten games this season, the Cyclones opened the scoring at 6:13 when Ben Gordon netted his second goal of the season from Steve Makway and Mitch Woods. Elmira would answer the score at 10:44 when Travis Gawryletz notched his first score of the campaign from Josh Aspenlind and Slavomir Tomko. The shots in the opening frame favored Elmira, 9-4.
Cincinnati scored the only goal of the second stanza when at 2:07, Olivier Latendresse buried his eighth goal of the season from the slot from Frederic St. Denis and Barret Ehgoetz. The shots on goal favored the Cyclones, 15-8, in the frame.
Thomas Beauregard netted an empty net goal, his eighth of the season with 7.1 seconds remaining to end the contest.
Kyle Gajewski took the victory his third of the season-turning aside 24 shots, while Michael Teslak stopped 25 shots in absorbing the loss.
The Cyclones are 4-3-3 on the season, while Elmira is 6-4. Tonight's game ended a four game homestand, as the Cyclones hit the road for three road games next week. First up, a Wednesday morning game (10:35am) at Johnstown, before heading to Elmira (Friday) and Reading (Sunday, November 16). The club returns home for a Friday, November 21 contest versus Wheeling at 7:30pm.
