
Wranglers Beat San Diego to Win 11th Straight

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers (22-4-2, 46 Points) defeated the San Diego Gulls (11-10-4) 7-2 on Tuesday night in front 6,336 fans at the Orleans Arena. Las Vegas stretched their team record to 11 straight victories as six different players registered multi-point games. Winger Dan Tudin led the charge with two goals and an assist, helping the Wranglers improve to 12-0-1 at home this season. Forwards Matt Dzieduszycki, Derek Edwardson, Thomas Bellemare, and Charles Linglet, along with defenseman Mike McBain each scored as the Wranglers improved to 16-0-1 in their last 17 games played. Goalie Mike McKenna won his ninth straight start, stopping 21 San Diego shots, improving to 9-0-1 on the season. The Wranglers last defeat in regulation came in Alaska on November 19th. Las Vegas will play in Long Beach on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
San Diego started the scoring when Jesse Bennefield scored the first goal of the night at 4:43, giving the Gulls their only lead of the game at 1-0. Center Derek Edwardson notched his 11th of the season just 17 seconds later, tying the game at one. Las Vegas added two more goals before the end of the first period. Defenseman Mike McBain scored his first of the season at 17:47, giving the Wranglers a 2-1 lead. With 55 seconds remaining in the period, Dan Tudin scored his first of two on the night, helping the Wranglers take a 3-1 lead into the locker room after one period of play.
The Wranglers added three more goals in the second period to bust open a 6-1 lead. Left wing Charles Linglet scored his second goal in as many nights at 6:57 to make it 4-1. Matt Dzieduszycki and Dan Tudin connected for two goals in 16 seconds to boost the lead to 6-1.
In the third period, Thomas Bellemare scored his third goal of the season at 11:29, extending the Las Vegas leads to 7-1. Moments later, San Diego's Steve Hildenbrand tallied a goal at 16:51 for the final score of 7-2.
The two teams combined for 148 penalty minutes on the evening, including 98 in the third period alone. Both goaltenders (Tom Lawson for San Diego and Mike McKenna for Las Vegas) were ejected after engaging in an altercation at 8:19 of the third period.
Las Vegas returns to the Orleans Arena on Friday, December 30th, when the Wranglers host the Utah Grizzlies at 7:05 pm, the first 2,500 fans will receive a Duke windup toy compliments of Cox Communications.
