Stepp to Portland

The Augusta Lynx announced today that forward Joel Stepp has been recalled to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

Stepp, who had an 11-game scoring streak (5-12-17) snapped last night against Florida in a 1-0 loss, has appeared in a total of 22 games for Augusta with seven goals and 25 points. Teamed on a line with Nicolas Corbeil and Dan Sullivan, they had become the Lynx most consistent offensive force over the last 15 games.

Originally selected in the third round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Stepp began the season with Portland where he played in seven games, registering a goal and two points with a +1 rating. The 6-0, 210 lb. center is expected to dress for Portland tonight against the Manchester Monarchs.

The Lynx are back in action Thursday night in Gwinnett, and return home to being a home and home series with the South Carolina Stingrays Friday night at 7:05 pm.
