Pucks & Parrot Heads Night set for January 7th
December 28, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release
GREENVILLE, SC - The Greenville Grrrowl have announced that the premier Jimmy Buffett Tribute band, A1A, will perform at the BI-LO Center after the Grrrowl game on January 7th. The concert will be part of Greenville's PUCKS & PARROT HEADS promotion, which includes a pre-game tailgate party at the new CHIEF'S WINGS AND FIREWATER at 723 Congaree Rd., across from Sportsclub.
A1A is recognized by Jimmy Buffett himself as the "First and Foremost Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band." Parrot Heads are groups of Buffett followers which have blossomed into a network of over 200 clubs around the U.S. plus international clubs based in Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and Australia.
The Grrrowl are encouraging fans to dress up as "Parrot Heads" in the middle of Winter and enjoy the performance of the best Jimmy Buffett Tribute band in the world.
A1A was formed in 1991 by Jeff Pike, who had developed an enormous following in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia with his one-man tribute to Jimmy Buffett. In 1992, after winning a Jimmy Buffett Sound Alike Contest for Margaritaville Records, Jeff Pike and A1A became The Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show, now internationally renowned. The pre-game tailgate party will be held at the new Chief's Wings and Firewater, located at 723 Congaree Rd. The party will begin at noon and continue until game time. Eastside Transportation will provide free shuttle service to bring fans from Chief's to the Grrrowl game, and back to Chief's once the game is over.
Grrrowl fans can use their January 7th ticket stub to receive a "buy one pound of wings, get one free" offer after the game. This offer is only valid after the game on January 7th, and fans must show a ticket stub from that night's game.
The Piedmont Parrot Head Club and Chief's are currently selling $10 tickets to the Grrrowl game on January 7th and will continue to sell tickets during the tailgate party. A portion of the ticket price will be donated to the Washington Center. Grrrowl fans can purchase their tickets early by visiting Chief's Wings and Firewater on Congaree Rd.
The Grrrowl will play the Charlotte Checkers on Jan. 7th, with the game beginning at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call 864-233-2525.
