Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
Fort WorthâThe good news just keeps on coming for Fort Worth Brahmas left wing Chad Woollard. Earlier today, Woollard was selected by the Central Hockey League to be a member of the 2003-2004 CHL Northern Conference All Star Team. Now, this afternoon, the CHL has given the Brahmas team captain another honor, as he was named as the Central Hockey League Player of the Week for the week of December 29, 2003 to January 4, 2004.
The 24-year old Durham, Ontario native was the offensive catalyst for the Brahmas last week as the team posted a 3-0-1 record in their four games played. He scored 5 goals, assisted on 2 others, and fired a team high 20 shots on goal in the Brahmas contests against Corpus Christi, Tulsa, Austin and Bossier-Shreveport respectively.
Woollard began his week with a 1 goal, 1 assist, 7 shot performance on Tuesday night, Dec. 30, in the Brahmas 7-3 win on home ice against the Corpus Christi Rayz . On New Year's Eve, Woollard helped the Brahmas ruin the party for the Tulsa Oilers with 2 goals (including the GWG), 1 assist, and one fight in the Brahmas 4-2 win over the Oilers. Friday night, January 2, he put another three shots on goal and played at a +1 in Fort Worth's 4-1 home win over their arch rivals from down I-35, the Austin Ice Bats.
The rangy winger wrapped up his outstanding week with two goals and five shots on goal in Fort Worth's 5-4 overtime loss to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. He opened the scoring in the game with a first period powerplay goal and then he scored the Brahmas last goal of the game with 4:53 left in regulation to give Fort Worth a short lived 4-3 lead.
The offensive outburst by Woollard increased his Brahmas team leading totals in goals (12), assists (15) and points (27). Over his last ten games, in which the Brahmas have a 6-2-2 record, Woollard has a team high 6 goals and 6 assists.
Woollard and his Brahmas teammates have another busy week ahead of them. This Friday, January 9, Fort Worth will host the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in a rematch of their game this past weekend. On Saturday, January 10, the defending CHL champion Memphis RiverKings make a trip to Fort Worth. Then on Sunday, the Brahmas will close out a three games in three nights stretch with an afternoon home game against the Lubbock Cotton Kings. This Friday and Saturday's games will start at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday afternoon game will be at 3:00 p.m. All three games will be held at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
