Baird is All-Star Bound for First Time
January 5, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Indianapolis Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that forward Jason Baird has been named to the Northern Conference roster for the CHL All-Star Game to take place on Thursday, January 22 from the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Baird joins defenseman Bernie John, who was previously selected as a Northern Conference starter.
The 23-year-old left winger will be making his first all-star appearance as a pro and his first half statistics make him a deserving selection. The well-rounded forward currently leads all Ice players in goals (16), plus/minus (+16), penalty minutes (99), game-winning goals (4), three-or-more point games (4) and is second in points (40) and power play goals (5).
Baird, who also won CHL Player of the Week honors once this year, is on pace to better his 70-point season he produced last year with the Ice. Overall, he currently ranks tenth in the CHL in scoring with his 16 goals and 24 assists. He is the left cog of Indy's top scoring line of centerman Dave Gilmore and right wing Jared Dumba, who have already amassed 111 points (45G, 66A) this season.
Indy, who is coming off two weekends wins over Corpus Christi, travels to Oklahoma this week for games with the Tulsa Oilers (1/6) and Oklahoma City Blazers (1/8), before returning home this weekend for back to back games with the New Mexico Scorpions from the Pepsi Coliseum. Saturday's home game is at 7:00 p.m., while Sunday's late matinee is a 5:00 p.m. start.
Fans can purchase tickets for this weekends' game and all individual games at all Ticketmaster locations including select Marsh Supermarkets, Karma Records, select L.S. Ayres and the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Conseco Fieldhouse box offices, or by calling 239-5151 or online at ticketmaster.com.
