New Mexico Scorpions News Release
ALBUQUERQUE â The Central Hockey League announced earlier today that New Mexico Scorpions goalie Miguel Beaudry has been named the Vaughn Goalie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 4.
Beaudry dominated the competition the last three games in goal for the Scorpions. Beaudry stopped 100 of 103 shots over the past three games posting wins against Amarillo, Lubbock, and Oklahoma City. To top off the week, Beaudry posted his first professional shutout in a 1-0 shootout win over second place Oklahoma City.
Beaudry took goal for the Scorpions against the top ranked Amarillo Gorillas from the Southwest Division on Wed, December 31. The Gorillas took 33 shots on goal but were held to just two scores in the first nine minutes of the contest. After that, Beaudry was lights out. Beaudry stopped all 16 shots in the third period to secure the Scorpions' 4-2 victory.
Only one shot got passed the 21 yr. old native from Verner, Ontario en route to a 4-1 victory against Lubbock on Fri, January 2.
Beaudry was a perfect 39 of 39 in save opportunities on Sat, January 3 against Oklahoma City. He stopped 39 shots in regulation and overtime play and continued by stopping all four shootout attempts by Oklahoma before Chris Richards' game winning goal prevailed in the contest. The perfect night was the first shutout victory in the young 21 year old's professional career.
