
CHL Names Players of the Week

Fort Worth Brahmas left winger Chad Woollard and New Mexico Scorpions rookie netminder Miguel Beaudry have been selected as the week twelve recipients of the Bauer/Nike CHL Player of the Week and Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week awards. Power forward Woollard paced the Brahmas to seven points in four games the past week, while Beaudry recorded three wins and his first professional shutout for the Scorpions.
Woollard twice scored two goals in games this week, and had three multiple point games. His finest outing came in a 4-2 win at Tulsa on New Year's Eve, leading the Brahmas to a 4-2 win with two goals and an assist. He also scored twice in a 5-4 overtime loss to visiting Bossier-Shreveport January 3rd. Woollard was named to the Dodge CHL Northern Conference All-Star Team earlier today, and will make his second consecutive All-Star appearance. Woollard leads the surging Brahmas with 12 goals and 27 points this season.
New Mexico rookie goaltender Beaudry was pressed into extensive action the past week, and came through with three consecutive wins for the Scorpions. He allowed a total of four goals against in 205 minutes of action, and had one of the season's top goaltending performances in a 1-0 shootout win January 3rd against visiting Oklahoma City. Beaudry turned aside all 39 Blazers shots during regulation play and overtime, then made four consecutive stops in the shootout to post his first ever professional shutout. The 21-year old rookie joined New Mexico after a major junior career spent with Sudbury and Mississauga of the Ontario Hockey League.
