Dodge CHL Northern Conference All-Star Reserves Announced

The Central Hockey League has today announced the Northern Conference reserves for the 2004 Dodge CHL All-Star Game, scheduled for Thursday, January 22nd in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Northern Conference All-Star reserves were selected by Coach Scott Muscutt of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, in conjunction with the CHL's Hockey Operations Department. An additional six forwards, four defensemen and a goaltender were selected to join the starting lineup previously announced on December 29th.

Joining All-Star starting forwards Greg Pankewicz (Colorado), Don Parsons (Memphis) and Mike Oliveira (New Mexico) as Northern Conference All-Star forwards are individuals from six separate clubs. Colorado left winger Ryan Tobler (19 goals, 33 assists) sits fourth in CHL scoring, and is joined by Chris Richards of the host New Mexico Scorpions (14g, 31a), Chad Woollard (12g, 15a) of the Fort Worth Brahmas, Jason Bermingham (19g,16a) of the Tulsa Oilers, Jason Baird 16g, 24a) of the Indianapolis Ice and Chad Spurr (14g, 19a) from Bossier-Shreveport.

Bolstering the Northern Conference All-Star defensive unit are returning All-Star Derek Landmesser of the Memphis RiverKings along with Oklahoma City's Tyler Fleck, Colorado's Brad Williamson, and Bossier-Shreveport's Craig Minard, with Indianapolis' Bernie John and Oklahoma City's Hardy Sauter already voted to the starting lineup.

In goal, Wichita netminder Nathan Grobins has enjoyed an outstanding season to date, and will backup starter Ken Carroll from Bossier-Shreveport. Grobins has posted 13 wins this season, along with a 2.34 goals against average and a .926 save percentage in combined duty with both Memphis and Wichita.

The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and Colorado Eagles rank first and second in Northern Conference winning percentage, and appropriately lead with three All-Star selections each. The Memphis RiverKings, Indianapolis Ice, New Mexico Scorpions and Oklahoma City Blazers each have a pair of All-Stars, while the Tulsa Oilers, Wichita Thunder and Fort Worth Brahmas each have single representatives. Tuesday, the reserves for the Southern Conference All-Stars will be announced, as selected by Coach Terry Ruskowski of the Laredo Bucks in conjunction with the CHL's Hockey Operations Department.

The Central Hockey League is in its 12th season of play, with 17 current teams (including the expansion Colorado Eagles and Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees) in eight states. The CHL continues to lead all "AA" professional hockey leagues in North American in attendance, currently with a per-game average of 4,211 through 283 games played.
