April 6, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Indianapolis Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that goaltender Brent Zelenewich (zih-LEN-ah-WHICH) has been called up to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.
Zelenewich, 25, is coming off an impressive first-year campaign with the Ice as he teamed with goaltender Jeff Sanger to form one of the better goaltending tandems in the CHL this year. His rookie numbers included a 17-6-2 record, 2.44 goals-against-average, two shutouts and a .922 save percentage.
"This is a well-deserved call-up, " said Ice Head Coach Ken McRae. "Brent really matured as the year went on and had some huge games down the stretch for us. He definitely was instrumental in our push to the playoffs."
Zelenewich, who makes his offseason home in the Winnipeg area, begins practice with the team today and will be in uniform for their two games this weekend.
