Wolves Upended by Admirals, 2-1

ROSEMONT, Ill.---The Chicago Wolves scored first, but the Milwaukee Admirals bagged the final two goals of the game as the Wolves fell 2-1 in an Amtrak Rivalry contest Friday night at the Allstate Arena.
Forward Nathan Longpre provided the offense for Chicago with his first professional goal, while goaltender Matt Climie kicked out 37 shots for the Wolves.
"Our performance was OK tonight and we did a lot of things well tonight," said Wolves coach Craig MacTavish. "We are showing progress, but we haven't manifested itself into wins."
Entering the third period tied at 1, Milwaukee right wing Ryan Thang bagged the game-winning goal at the 13:33 mark when a Wolves defenseman misplayed the puck at his own blueline and Milwaukee (5-0-0-1) broke out on a three-on-one. Climie stopped the initial shot by center Kyle Wilson, but Thang swatted the rebound out of the air and into the open net.
Chicago (2-4-0-2) cracked the scoreboard first at 9:38 of the second period. Right wing Darren Haydar held the puck below the goal line and slid a pass through the crease to Longpre, who hammered a one-timer past Admirals goaltender Jeremy Smith.
Smith (4-0-1) stopped 27 shots.
Milwaukee tied the score at 1 with 1:55 remaining in the middle frame when right wing Juuso Puustinen sprang out on a breakaway and slid the puck between the far post and the outstretched pad of Climie (1-1-0).
The Wolves host the Texas Stars at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Allstate Arena.
