Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves made it back-to-back wins over the Richmond Flying Squirrels with a 5-1 victory on Saturday night at Jerry Uht Park.
The Squirrels jumped ahead in the top of the second inning against Erie starter Jeff Ferrell when Jarrett Parker led off and connected on the first pitch of the inning, put it over the wall in center for a 1-0 Richmond lead.
Erie quickly tied the game in the last of the second against Richmond starter Ty Blach. Ramon Cabrera doubled with one out and was doubled home by Francisco Martinez, making it a 1-1 game.
In the third, the SeaWolves took the lead. Craig Albernaz led off with a double off the wall in left. With on one, Devon Travis grounded to short and on a throwing error by Kelby Tomlinson, both runners would reach safely. Jason Krizan grounded to second, plating Albernaz for a 2-1 lead. The 'Wolves would never trail from that point on.
In the fourth with two outs, Aaron Westlake and Dixon Machado each singled to extend the inning for Albernaz. Albernaz singled home both runners for a 4-1 edge.
The games final run came in the fifth. Krizan doubled with one out to extend his hitting streak to 10 straight. Caberera singled home Krizan making it 5-1.
The four-run lead would be more than enough for Ferrell (7-7) who tossed seven innings, allowing a run on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts.
Bryan Augenstein and Angel Nesbitt tossed the final two innings, preserving the Erie win.
