Wolves Shutout In Trenton 4-0

The SeaWolves were shut out for the first time since April 13 as they fell to the Trenton Thunder, 4-0, on Tuesday morning at Waterfront Park.

The loss was Erie's seventh consecutive and it dropped the club to 0-6 in Trenton.

Trenton struck first in the bottom of the second inning against Erie starter Thad Weber. Kevin Smith reached on an infield single with two outs and moved into scoring position on a single by Edwar Gonzalez. Smith scored on a base knock by Luis Nunez for a 1-0 lead.

Trenton took a 2-0 lead in the fifth when Nunez led off with a single, stole second and reached third on an error. Nunez was singled home with one out by Austin Krum.

The Thunder added runs in the sixth and seventh innings on a passed ball and a wild pitch, taking a 4-0 lead.

The SeaWolves mustered just three hits in the game against Trenton starter Lance Pendelton and reliever Josh Schmidt. Shawn Roof had two of the three.

Michael Bertram singled in the fifth and has hit safely in 28 of his last 31 games.

Weber (2-5) allowed four runs, two earned, on 10 hits with a walk and a strikeout in 6.2 innings of work. Weber has gone at least 6.2 innings in each of his last five starts and has gone at least five in every start this season.

The SeaWolves are now just 2-11 at Waterfront Park since 2008.
