Harrisburg Senators News Release

Andrew Kown threw seven innings, allowing just one unearned run, and picked up his first win of the season as the Harrisburg Senators defeated the Bowie Baysox 2-1 on Tuesday night at Metro Bank Park.

Kown is now 1-0 in two starts for the Senators (22-23), and has a 0.73 ERA. Tim Bascom (3-3) of Bowie took the loss, despite allowing just two runs in five innings of work. Chuck James earned his first save of the year by firing a scoreless ninth for the Sens.

The Senators took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, thanks to a Jesus Valdez sacrifice fly that drove in Brad Coon. Coon had singled with one out in the inning, and advanced to third base on a single by Danny Espinosa.

In the fourth, catcher Sean Rooney doubled the Senators' lead with a double into right-centerfield, which scored Michael Martinez. The Baysox (22-23) got one back in the sixth, off of a Tyler Henson RBI single, but could not score again.

Coon, Espinosa, and Martinez each finished with two hits in the contest, while Rooney, Edgardo Baez, and Marvin Lowrance each added one.

The four-game series between the two teams is now tied at a game apiece, with game three set for Wednesday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 PM, and will be thrown by LHP Aaron Thompson (2-5, 6.25) of the Senators. Left-hander Zach Britton (3-3, 3.88) gets the start for Bowie. The radio broadcast of the game begins at 6:45 PM, and can be heard on 1460 AM The Ticket, and www.senatorsbaseball.com.
