Thunder Shut Out Sea Wolves 4-0

Trenton, NJ- Lance Pendleton earned his second win of the season, as the Thunder took advantage of two Erie errors and shut out the Sea Wolves 4-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Waterfront Park. With the win, Trenton improves to 26-18 on the season.

Trenton was able to get ahead early in the second inning off RHP Thad Weber. With two outs, Kevin Smith reached base on an infield single and moved to up to second base on a single by Edwar Gonzalez. Luis Nunez was the next batter, and he singled in Smith to give Trenton an early 1-0 lead. An RBI single into centerfield from Austin Krum in the fifth inning gave the Thunder a 2-0 lead after five innings.

RHP Lance Pendleton bounced back from his last start, as he sat down the first 12 batters he faced. Overall, Pendleton pitched seven full innings and allowed just two hits while striking out four.

The Thunder picked up one run each in the sixth and seventh innings. In the sixth, Jose Gil hit a double down the right field line, and moved to third on a groundout from Kevin Smith. Gil then scored on a passed ball from the catcher Andy Bouchie. In the seventh, Luis Nunez reached base on an error from Erie INF Shawn Roof, his second of the day. Nunez would then score on a wild pitch to increase the Thunder lead, 4-0.

RHP Josh Schmidt came in to pitch the final two innings, and allowed one hit and struck out a batter. Krum and Nunez each finished with two hits. Nunez also stole his fifth base of the season.

The Thunder and Sea Wolves continue their four game series on Wednesday evening starting at 7:05 PM. RHP Hector Noesi will make his first start at home for Trenton, and Erie will give the ball to RHP Brooks Brown.
