Erie SeaWolves News Release
The Erie SeaWolves (18-33) had a late rally cut short as a crucial blunder ultimately sent them to a 4-3 defeat to the Altoona Curve (32-20).
The Curve threw the first punch in the opening frame as Adam Frazier led off with a base hit on the game's very first pitch. He would then come into score on Willy Garcia's RBI single as Altoona quickly took a 1-0 lead.
The SeaWolves immediately responded in the bottom of the first as Harold Castro led off with a base hit, reached third on Jason Krizan's single, and came home on an RBI base knock from Wynton Bernard. Krizan would then advance to third, and then a Dean Green sacrifice fly to center would bring him home giving Erie a 2-1 lead.
The Curve answered in the third as Max Moroff took the very first pitch of the third inning smacked it for a single. After advancing to second on a wild pitch, Moroff would then be moved to third on a double play groundout. Another wild pitch brought him home as Altoona tied the game 2-2.
The Curve regained the lead in the sixth inning as Dan Gamache got aboard with a leadoff base hit. He would reach third on Eric Wood's single, and come in to score on Jacob Stallings' sacrifice fly to center as the Curve went up 3-2.
Altoona added onto their lead in the seventh as Frazier would lead off with a single. He would then advance to second on Moroff's sacrifice bunt, and reach third on Josh Bell single.
