Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators dropped a 4-3 decision to Trenton on Friday night in game one of their three-game series at ARM & HAMMER Park. Harrisburg took a 1-0 lead but Trenton rallied for four runs, three unearned, in the fifth inning and then held on late to hold off the Sens. It was the Senators 26th one-run game of the season.

Austin Voth started for the Senators and went six innings allowing four runs but just one earned while striking out five. He lowered his ERA to 3.47 on the season even though he fell to 2-4. Eric Ruth pitched the final five innings for Trenton to earn the win and move to 4-0 on the season.

Kevin Keyes drove in the first run for the Senators with a single in the fourth. Trailing 4-1 into the eighth, the Sens plated two runs with one coming on a groundout off the bat of Drew Vettleson and Matt Skole driving in the second with a single to center. But they would get no closer as the final four Senators were retired.

Tony Renda, Kevin Keyes and Matt Skole all had two hits for the Senators who had ten in the game as a team, though all ten were singles. The Sens defense let them down in the fifth as they committed three errors which led to three of the four runs.

Bryan Harper appeared in his first game since being activated from the disabled and pitched 1.2 scoreless innings while striking out two.

The Senators and Trenton Thunder continue their three-game series on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.. The pregame show will start at 6:45 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
