Wizards Roster Undergoes Changes

Fort Wayne, IN - For the second time in as many days, the Fort Wayne Wizards announced changes to their roster, prior to the start of a four-game homestand against the West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers affiliate) today.

Outfielder Nic Crosta was promoted to the San Diego Padres single-A affiliate, the Lake Elsinore Storm in the California League and outfield Josh Alley was placed on the disabled list, retroactive to Saturday.

With the promotion of Crosta and the disabled list move for Alley, the Wizards will add outfielder Javis Diaz to their roster. The Wizards roster will currently have 24 active players, one short of the Midwest League maximum 25.

Crosta is currently leading the Midwest League with a .382 batting average in 37 games for Fort Wayne. He is second on the team with seven home runs and third with 30 runs batted in.

Diaz heads to Fort Wayne from the Padres extended spring training camp in Peoria, Arizona. Entering 2006, he has a .285 career batting average in three minor league seasons. He was tied for second in the Padres minor league system with 31 steals and has 83 overall.

Alley, who was injured in the first game of the Wizards doubleheader on Friday against the Peoria Chiefs (Chicago Cubs affiliate), is hitting .165 with eight runs batted in over the span of 32 games.
