BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - Rosters for the 2006 Midwest League All-Star Game to be held in Davenport, IA on June 21, 2006 were announced by the league on Tuesday and the Devil Rays have a total of five players selected to the team. RHP Wade Davis, LHP Jake McGee, RHP Mike Wlodarczyk, RHP Greg Dupas, and first baseman Rhyne Hughes will represent Southwest Michigan in the game.
Three pitchers from the Rays starting rotation were named to the Eastern Division All-Star team. RHP Wade Davis has been consistent all year and currently has a record of 4-1 with a Midwest League leading 1.18 ERA. Davis's ERA is fourth in all of Minor League Baseball. He has been trading the MWL strikeout lead with roommate Jake McGee all season long and is currently second behind McGee with 80 K's.
LHP Jake McGee is the D-Rays youngest pitcher and is electric to watch. He currently stands at 4-5 with a 2.82 ERA. Jake leads the MWL in strikeouts with 82. He is tied for 5th in all of the minors in strikeouts and is 3rd in Minor League Baseball for strikeouts per 9 innings pitched with 12.16.
RHP Mike Wlodarczyk is ripping up the MWL with a 5-3 record. He has lost his last two outings but before that he had the best ERA in the MWL and went an incredible 49 straight innings without giving up an earned run. Mike currently has a stellar ERA of 2.24 with 62 strikeouts. He also hasn't given up a homerun all season long.
RHP Greg Dupas is the best closer in the MWL. Dupas has successfully converted his last 14 save opportunities and has an ERA of 1.37. He is tied for the 3rd most saves in all of Minor League Baseball with 15.
The lone position player to make the roster is first baseman Rhyne Hughes. In addition to playing phenomenal defense, Rhyne is hitting .234 with 1 homerun and 18 RBI. Rhyne has played 49 of the teams 57 games so far this season.
