June 6, 2006 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Burlington Bees News Release
Burlington, IA (June 6, 2006) "" The Kansas City Royals have placed Burlington Bees OF Carlos Arroyo on the disabled list. Arroyo sprained his right ankle sliding into second base in the top of the seventh inning at Cedar Rapids last night. X-rays today indicated no fracture. He is expected to be out approximately two weeks. Arroyo was 2-3 with a sacrifice bunt last night and is batting .268 with 18 RBI and 17 runs scored in 47 games.
C Kiel Thibault was activated from the DL today to fill the open roster spot. Thibault had been out since May 20th after getting spiked below the right knee while sliding into second. He received a cut that needed seven stitches to close. He has been back to full action for the last three days and is available off the bench tonight. Thibault was batting .230 with 5 doubles and 16 RBI in 33 games before going in the DL.
The Bees open an eight-game home stand tonight with the first of four against the Peoria Chiefs, the Midwest League affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The Bees come into play tonight just one game behind the Chiefs for second place in the Western Division, which is good for a spot in the playoffs in September. Tonight is a Hawk Eye 2-for-Tuesday. Game time is 7:00 and the gates open at six. Anyone who brings the coupon from today's newspaper to the ticket window gets two general admission tickets for the price of one. The game will also be broadcast on KBUR AM 1490 and KBKB AM 1360 with the pre-game show starting at 6:40.
