Wisconsin Slams Fort Wayne, Wins 8 -2

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers outslugged the Fort Wayne TinCaps by an 8-2 final score on Sunday afternoon, evening the three-game series at one game apiece. Cody Hebner became the first pitcher in eight days to pitch five innings for Fort Wayne, although he took the loss giving up six runs on nine hits.

Wisconsin (12-11, 56-36) scored the first two runs of the game against Hebner in the first inning, putting the TinCaps in the hole before they came to the plate. Fort Wayne (12-11, 43-50) received a run in the bottom of the first, as Yeison Asencio drove in Mike Gallic. The TinCaps then tied the game, 2-2, in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Jace Peterson.

The Timber Rattlers exploded for four runs in the fifth inning, scoring four runs against Hebner. All of the runs scored with two men down. Following the third inning, when Fort Wayne tied the game at two, the TinCaps put at least one runner on base for every inning the rest of the game, but failed to get a run across. Fort Wayne finished the game 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.

Dennis O'Grady worked 3 1/3 innings behind Hebner, surrendering one run in the seventh and one in the ninth. Robert Eisenbach pitched two-thirds of an inning, as well.

The rubber match of the set is scheduled for Monday night at 7:05. The scheduled starters are Frank Garces for Fort Wayne and Mark Williams for Wisconsin.
