Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

Crooked numbers have become a common theme for the Winnipeg Goldeyes through their first two games of this six-game road trip.

Saturday night, the Goldeyes (20-15) posted a pair of crooked numbers in a 7-0 shutout of the Kansas City T-Bones (13-21) before 7,536 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City.

After Brian Myrow hit an RBI single in the first inning, the Goldeyes put three runs on the scoreboard in the third inning and two more in the fourth for a commanding 6-0 lead.

In the third, the Goldeyes used the small ball with three RBI singles to score the runs, while Kody Kaiser had an RBI triple and Wes Long drove in a run with a double in the fourth inning.

Winnipeg added a run in the eighth inning when Price Kendall drove in Louis Ott with a single to finish the scoring in the game.

Five different Goldeyes posted two hits in the game.

Luis Villarreal was spectacular for the Goldeyes, throwing six shutout innings, while giving up just two hits and fanning six. He picked up his third consecutive win for his efforts. Villarreal has a tiny 0.48 ERA through four starts this season.

Kansas City starter Devin Anderson gets hit with the loss.

The win moves Winnipeg to within a game and a half of the St. Paul Saints for first place in the North Division. The Goldeyes are tied for second with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.

Winnipeg puts their three-game winning streak on the line Sunday evening in the final game of this three-game series and the Goldeyes will be out to sweep the T-Bones. Winnipeg has yet to post a sweep this season. Game time is 5:05 p.m. and all the action can be heard on Sports Radio 1290.
