Fargo-Moorhead 3, Sioux Falls 0
RedHawks CF Nic Jackson had two RBIs to help Fargo-Moorhead earn a 3-0 win against Sioux Falls. Jackson hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning that scored RF Michael Coles and gave Fargo-Moorhead an early 1-0 lead. In the fifth frame, Coles hit a sacrifice fly that scored C Phil Britton who had reached base on a lead-off double. Jackson then made it 3-0 later in the inning when his RBI single scored SS Zach Penprase. RedHawks Alex Caldera pitched seven scoreless innings to earn the win. Caldera allowed just six hits and struck out four batters. Casey Hoorelbeke worked the final two innings without conceding a hit and earned the save. For the Pheasants, 1B Brandon Sing went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double.
Gary SouthShore 8, St. Paul 1
Five Gary SouthShore hitters had at least one RBI, which powered the RailCats to an 8-1 win against the St. Paul Saints. RailCats CF Mike Massaro tripled in a run in the bottom of the first and RF Cristian Guerrero batted in Massaro later in the inning to give Gary SouthShore a 2-0 lead. The RailCats tallied three runs in the sixth and three more in the bottom of the eighth. Massaro finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored, and DH Adam Klein had two hits in five at-bats with a run scored and an RBI. Gary SouthShore pitcher Brian Grening came on in relief, pitched a scoreless two and two-thirds innings and earnted the win. Saints 1B Jason Cooper had his team's only RBI.
Grand Prairie 11, El Paso 4
Grand Prairie plated five insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to pull away from El Paso and win 11-4. The AirHogs scored one in the second when Guillermo Martinez tripled in a run and then plated four runs in the third to take a commanding 5-0 lead. The Diablos scored two in the fifth and two in the seventh to cut the deficit to 6-4, but that would be as close as El Paso would get on the night. For the AirHogs, 3B Cesar Nicolas had two hits in four at-bats, including his seventh home run of the year. First baseman Greg Porter went 2-for-5 at the plate, scored two runs and drove in two runs for the AirHogs, and C Chris McMurray had two hits in four at-bats with two RBIs and a run scored. Grand Prairie pitcher John Brownell pitched seven innings and earned the win. For El Paso, 2B Antoin Gray homered and collected three RBIs on the night.
Shreveport-Bossier 6, Fort Worth 5
Shreveport-Bossier scored all six of their runs in the first three innings, then clung to a one-run lead the rest of the way as they narrowly defeated Fort Worth 6-5. Captains SS Bryan Frichter hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first. After falling behind 2-1, Shreveport-Bossier reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the second when C Brian Peterson smacked a three-run homer to make it 4-2 Captains. Each team scored two in the third inning and the Cats tacked on another run in the top of the fourth to cut Shreveport-Bossier's lead to 6-5. That would prove to be the final run scored in the game, however, and the Captains held on the rest of the way. Captains 1B Andres Rodriquez had three RBIs in the game, and pitcher Osvaldo Rodriguez earned the win with four earned runs allowed in six innings pitched.
Sioux City 8, Lincoln 6
Sioux City outscored Lincoln 5-3 in the final three innings to reclaim the lead and earn an 8-6 win. The game was tied 3-3 after six innings, but the Explorers scored three in the seventh and tallied two in the eighth to seal the game. Sioux City's Kent Sakamoto belted a two-run homer on the night, and SS Ryan Priddy also homered on the night. Sioux City reliever Bryan Wilde earned the win. For Lincoln, 1B Phil Hawke collected two RBIs.
Amarillo 6, Wichita 4
Amarillo's Cyle Hankerd went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored as the Sox beat Wichita 6-4. Amarillo 3B Van Pope, 1B Chris Nash and C Benji Johnson all had one RBI on the night. Amarillo starting pitcher Colin Allen allowed just one run in seven innings pitched and struck out four hitters to earn the win. For Wichita, SS Josh Horn and CF Brent Clevlen each collected an RBI in a losing effort.
Winnipeg 7, Kansas City 0
Thee Winnipeg pitchers combined for a five-hit shutout as the Goldeyes blanked the Kansas City T-Bones to earn a 7-0 win. Winnipeg starting pitcher Luis Villarreal pitched six scoreless innings, striking out six batters and allowing just two hits. Goldeyes SS Wes Long went 2-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs, and DH Brian Myrow had two hits in five at-bats and collected two RBIs. Second baseman Price Kendall, CF Kody Kaiser and C Luis Allen all picked up an RBI for the Goldeyes.
