Salt Lake City Stars News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - Salt Lake City Stars center Willie Reed was named to the Midseason All-NBA G League Team for the Western Conference, the league announced today. NBA G League coaches, general managers and players voted on the top performers from the first half of the season from their respective conferences, based on the performance of players in games through January 28, 2019.

The No. 1 overall selection in the 2018 NBA G League Draft, Reed (6-11, 245, Saint Louis) appeared in 21 games (all starts) with the Stars this season, averaging 20.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, 1.76 blocks and 1.6 assists in 30.1 minutes. Reed, who recorded 12 double-doubles (seven 20/10 games) with the Stars, shot 66.5 percent from the field, second-best in the NBA G League. Reed sustained a season-ending right shoulder injury on Jan. 14.

Reed has also appeared in 152 career NBA games (12 starts) over three seasons with Brooklyn, Miami, the LA Clippers and Detroit, averaging 4.9 points and 3.8 rebounds in 12.4 minutes.

Reed joins current Utah Jazz forward Georges Niang as the only Stars players to earn the midseason honor, which the league began awarding in 2017-18. Niang was named to the Midseason All-NBA G League Western Conference Team last season as a Utah Jazz two-way player with the Stars.

Eligibility for players to be selected for recognition is based on having played in 50 percent of their team's games through January 28 and being on an Active Roster. Two-Way players and players on assignment from the NBA are eligible to both vote for and receive Midseason All-NBA G League recognition.
