The Williamsport Crosscutters scored a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning to erase a 1-0 deficit en-route to a 7-3 win against the Auburn Doubledays on Friday night at Falcon Park.

Lefty Tyler Gilbert picked up his second win of the season working five innings. The Cutters remain in first place in the Pinckney Division and also hold onto the best record in the New York Penn League.

The Crosscutters offense rallied after falling behind 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Williamsport spoiled a great opportunity to take an early lead as they loaded the bases in the top of the first inning. Gregori Rivero started the Cutters rally with a two out triple down the right field line. Luis Espiritu would bring him in with an RBI single to tie the game 1-1. After Espiritu advanced to third on a hit and run play he would score on an error by the pitcher to give the Cutters a 2-1 lead.

Williamsport would not look back from the fourth inning on as they would add two more runs to their lead in top of the sixth inning. The Cutters were gifted with a pair of bases loaded walks to William Cuicas and Espiritu. The two runs gave the Cutters a 4-2 lead heading to the bottom of the sixth inning. The eighth inning would see the Cutters score three runs to take a 7-2 lead. Cuicas doubled to score Espiritu who lead off the inning with a double of his own. Mark Laird and Venn Biter also picked up RBI's in the inning for Williamsport.

The Doubledays would score a single run in the bottom of the eighth inning to round out the scoring making it 7-3.

Gilbert moved to 2-2 on the season with the win, striking out a career high seven batters while walking just one.

Andrew Godail would replace Gilbert in the bottom of the sixth inning as he worked around a single and a hit batter to keep the Doubledays scoreless. Jacob Waguespack and Kenny Koplove also worked an inning.
