The Black Bears wasted no time in taking a lead as they jumped on the Spikes early in the first inning. 2B Mitchell Tolman lined a double in the gap to get things started and after advancing to third on a groundball, came home to score on an RBI single by LF Ty Moore to take a 1-0 lead. The Spikes answered back in the third on a run-scoring single to center field to tie the game 1-1.

CF Casey Hughston came through with a single to right, scoring 1B Albert Baur to jump out to a 2-1 lead. The offense wasn't finished there though as they kept adding on in the sixth inning. Tolman led off the inning with a double to deep right center and then scored on a single up the middle by RF Logan Hill. Later in the inning, 3B Daniel Arribas ripped a single to left, bringing home Hill to give the Black Bears a 4-1 lead. The teams were held scoreless in the final three innings which secured the 4-1 win for West Virginia.
SP Dario Agrazal tossed a gem on the mound for the Black Bears, pitching 7.0 innings, allowing only one run, two hits and struck out three State College hitters to earn the win (5-3). RP Cesilio Pimentel pitched the final two innings, allowing no runs with strikeouts to earn his third save this season.
Tolman led the way at the plate for the Black Bears after finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles. Baur and Hill also had a good night offensively as they both finished with two hits.
