BURLINGTON, VT --- The Vermont Lake Monsters scored three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to pick up their season-best third straight victory with a 7-2 New York-Penn League victory over the Brooklyn Cyclones on Friday night at historic Centennial Field.

Trailing 2-0 in the sixth, the Lake Monsters scored three unearned runs with two outs on a Skye Bolt two-run double and Jesus Lopez RBI single for a 3-2 lead. Vermont stole a run in the seventh when Richie Martin walked, then stole both second and third bases before scoring on a wild pitch for a 4-2 advantage. Martin was 1-for-2 with two walks, was hit by a pitch, scored two runs and had three steals, the first multi stolen base game of the season for Vermont.

The Lake Monsters added two more runs in the seventh on a Brett Siddall RBI single and a Steven Pallares RBI forceout, while Seth Brown had an RBI single in the eighth inning for another insurance run. The victory was Vermont's second straight over the Cyclones, marking the first time since July 31-August 1, 2011 that the Lake Monsters have won back-to-back games against Brooklyn.

David Thompson had given the Cyclones a 1-0 lead in the second inning with a solo homer, the only run and hit allowed by Vermont starter Kyle Friedrichs over three innings, while Brandon Brosher added an RBI single in the fourth for a two-run lead. Brooklyn's Nicco Blank allowed four hits with two walks and three strikeouts over four scoreless innings in an emergency start for the Cyclones after scheduled starter Dawrin Frias became a Lake Monster earlier in the day when traded by the New York Mets to the Oakland A's,

Kevin Ferreras (3-2) allowed one hit with one walk and three strikeouts over three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win for the Lake Monsters, who held their opponent to five hits or less for the third straight game and lowered their team ERA to a season-low 4.04.

Trace Loehr and Siddall both had two hits for Vermont (20-26), while Cyclones reliever Craig Missigman (1-1) was charged with four runs (one earned) on two hits with three walks over 2 1/3 innings to take the loss for Brooklyn (23-23), Thompson's home run was his third of the season and also marked just the second time in 16 games this season that Vermont has won when the opponent has hit at least one home run.

The Lake Monsters, who have a three-game winning streak for the first time this season (previously had four two-game win streaks), will lokk to complete their first-ever three-game sweep of Brooklyn when they host the Cyclones on Saturday at 6:05 pm.
