Auburn Doubledays News Release

AUBURN, NY - The Doubledays dropped game two of the series 7-3 thus ending their series win-streak at five. Auburn now sits at 0-5 against Williamsport this year.

After a scoreless first and second, the Doubledays got on the board first in the bottom of the third. Edwin Lora reached on an error and moved to third on a single by Victor Robles before ultimately scoring on a single by Max Schrock to give the Doubledays a 1-0 lead.

The Crosscutters didn't take too long to respond. After Jefry Rodriguez got two quick outs in the fourth, he gave up a triple and a pair of singles. Those three hits along with an error on Rodriguez allowed two runs to score and gave Williamsport a 2-1 lead.

Down one in the bottom of the fourth, the Doubledays evened it up. After David Kerian grounded out to third, Rhett Wiseman dug in and singled into center. The outfielder then moved to second on a single into left by Jakson Reetz. With runners on first and second and one out, Randy Encarnacion notched a single into left to score Wiseman from second and tie the game up at 2-2.

The fifth went by quickly and quietly before the Crosscutters scored two in the sixth. Both runs scored on bases loaded walks given up by Matt Pirro and Williamsport took a 4-2 lead. Two innings later in the eighth, the Cutters added a trio of runs on a pair of doubles and two singles to take a 7-2 lead.

The Doubledays final rally came in the bottom of the eighth. With one out, Randy Encarnacion walked. He then moved to second when Victor Robles walked. Ian Sagdal dug in next and drove in Encarnacion with a bloop double into center to put the score at 7-3.

After a quick top of the ninth, the Doubledays went down in order in the ninth and fell 7-3.

The series finale is Saturday at 7:05 PM. Taylor Guilbeau gets the start for the Doubledays against Luke Leftwich for the Crosscutters.
