Albany Devils News Release

HERSHEY, PA -- The Albany Devils established three comebacks against the Hershey Bears only to fall, 5-4, in overtime Saturday at Giant Center. Stanislav Galiev netted the game-winning goal off a one-timer from the left circle at 3:46. The tally was the fixture's sixth power-play goal -- Albany went 3-5, while Hershey was 3-7.

Despite the setback, the Devils registered 5-of-6 standing points in three games this week and are now 18-14-3-5. Hershey moves a point ahead of Albany in the standings at 20-13-4-1.

Reece Scarlett led all Devils with a career-high three points, posting a goal and two assists. Stefan Matteau, Darcy Zajac and Reid Boucher also scored -- all with the man advantage. In goal, Scott Wedgewood turned aside 24 shots, including two key saves during a five minute penalty kill late in the third period.

Galiev scored twice for the Bears, who also received goals from Casey Wellman, Tomas Kundratek and Chris Conner. In his first appearance since Dec. 31, Philipp Grubauer made 25 saves for his 12th win of the season.

Albany trailed early, as Wellman and Kundratek gave Hershey a 2-0 advantage with goals at 10 seconds and 3:19 (power-play).

Matteau and Scarlett answered at the 8:04 and 12:22 marks, but before the end of the period Galiev used his speed to give Hershey a 3-2 advantage at 17:17.

In the second, Matteau setup Zajac on a fast break at 7:43, but again Hershey responded. Conner found the back of the net at 9:38 on the power play.

Less than two minutes later, the Devils capitalized on a 5-on-3 man advantage when Scarlett found Boucher for a one-timer inside the right face-off circle at 11:23. The tally was the final of regulation.

In overtime, Albany was called for a slashing penalty at 3:21. The teams were set to play 4-on-3 for the following two minutes, but Galiev's shot beat Wedgewood shortside 25 seconds after the call.
