Drewiske's Three Points Lead Dogs over Griffins 5-2

HAMILTON, ONT. - Hamilton Bulldogs defenceman Davis Drewiske had a goal and two assists to lead the 'Dogs (18-17-6-0) to a 5-2 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins (19-15-3-1) on Saturday evening at FirstOntario Centre. Defenceman Jarred Tinordi (two assists) and forwards Charles Hudon (two assists), Maxime Macenauer (two assists) and T.J. Hensick (one goal, one assist) also had multi-point nights.

The 'Dogs jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first period off goals by forward Nick Sorkin and Drewiske, before Griffins forward Mitch Callahan cut the 2-0 lead in half with less than three minutes to play in the opening frame. Drewiske and Macenauer had assists on Hamilton's first-period goals, while forward Kevin Porter and defenceman Alexey Marchenko had helpers on Callahan's marker.

Just 1:24 into the second period, Grand Rapids forward Landon Ferraro tied the game, 2-2, with an assist from forward Marek Tvrdon.

The Bulldogs regained a one-goal edge, 3-2, 95 seconds later when Hudon found forward Jacob de la Rose streaking to the net and de la Rose notched his fifth goal of the season. Tinordi had a second assist on the play.

With less than two minutes to go in the second period, Hamilton forward Daniel Carr buried his eighth goal of the season on the power play to restore his team's two-goal lead, 4-2, with assists from Hudon and Hensick.

Under three minutes into the final stanza, Hensick slid a wrap-around shot past Grand Rapids goaltender Jared Coreau for his 10th goal of 2014-15 to give the Bulldogs a 5-2 lead. Tinordi and Drewiske had assists.

Mike Condon made 19 saves on 21 shots for the Bulldogs in the win. Coreau stopped 22 of 27 shots faced for the Griffins in the loss. Pat Nagle played 17 minutes in relief of Coreau, stopping all five shots he faced.

Hamilton went 1-for-7 on the power play, while Grand Rapids was 0-for-3 with a man advantage.
